But as you probably know, it’s not all rainbows and candy.

All lead generation sources are not the same. They vary wildly. Don’t judge leads on the cost of the lead. Judge them on the cost of getting the student. Different types of leads convert better than others. You are better off calling 10 leads at $60 each and getting a sale, over calling 100 leads at $6 each and getting a sale. You need to understand the lead source, the context of the lead, and then test for your dollar return from that particular lead generator. Remember the focus is a) buying students a profit then b) improving performance.

If you don’t have a sales team who is motivated to close them, you might find yourself thinking the leads are all rubbish compared to the leads you are getting direct from your own website (since those leads generally have sought your business out and are closer to buying). Don’t be fooled by this. Understand the conversion rates might be different. It’s the cost of acquisition of student that matters.

Working with lead generators is all about knowing your numbers spending wise, and focusing on sales conversions of those leads. When you use a lead generator, you can focus simply on “money in and money out” per lead generation channel, and then improving your sales process.

It’s important to work with the lead generator, so they get to understand your business and continue to improve and help you grow it. This is a partnership for mutual benefit which should be considered a long-term relationship for you to get the best out of it.

Hands down this is the fastest and easiest way to increase leads.

But don’t expect to get it right the first time. You might need to crack a few eggs to make your omelet, but if you get it right, one lead broker could drive your college to the next level with relative ease.
